Responsibilities
- Effectively build and oversee reliable methods and processes that allow the organization to be 100% preventative and predictive in our safety and health efforts.
- Provide strong leadership and active participation in safety processes such as hazard assessments and process designs, while striving to continuously improve the EHS culture.
Engage the entire employee population to energize the effort to improve performance.
- Instill the safety and health culture of all team members as their number one core value to promote an action orientated (HSE) culture with a sense of urgency that drives commitment to attaining world class performance
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA PSM) rules and regulations.
- Strong ownership of all environmental aspects and applications of the facility’s operations including Title V, Air, Water and NPDES permitting.
Monitor plant compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other waste disposal regulations Monitor plant compliance with Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) with a focus on Tier I, Tier II and Form R reporting as applicable.
- Identifies, assesses and manages risks and hazards of operations to team members, contractors and all others who may be affected.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and team members in work site safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
- Provides safety expertise, training and leadership in areas such as industrial health and safety, lock out / tag out requirements, confined space requirements, etc.

Incident management, including efforts to continually decrease the number of work accidents, injuries and illnesses by monitoring and developing innovative strategies to reduce incident and accidental rates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Chemical / Environmental / Safety Engineering or related area) or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment (understanding of regulations as they pertain to chemical manufacturing is essential).
- Strong experience with environmental permitting requirements.
- Understanding of Federal and State EHS regulations.
- Knowledge in EPA Regulations, OSHA, HAZOP, RCRA, TSCA NFPA, PSM, and PHA
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations.
