Overview
A Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and financial statements, performing month-end and year-end closing and audit functions while ensuring compliance with GAAP and good internal controls.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance of the general ledger and its components in multiple systems
- Assist in month end and year end close
- Maintain good communication with store / field personnel and provide for quick resolution to any issues that arise
- Ensure good communications to other departments
- Work with personnel on internal control to ensure compliance
- Assist in projects as it pertains to GL conversions and training
- Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked
- Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and / or any issues that need attention
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- College Degree in accounting or related field required
- Must have 1-3 years strong accounting experience
- Experience with auditing internal controls and procedures
- Good, working knowledge of GAAP
- Working knowledge and experience in analyzing financial statements
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems and processes
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of JD Edwards; Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics); or PDI
