Overview

A Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and financial statements, performing month-end and year-end closing and audit functions while ensuring compliance with GAAP and good internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of the general ledger and its components in multiple systems
  • Assist in month end and year end close
  • Maintain good communication with store / field personnel and provide for quick resolution to any issues that arise
  • Ensure good communications to other departments
  • Work with personnel on internal control to ensure compliance
  • Assist in projects as it pertains to GL conversions and training
  • Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers. Keep supervisor informed of any problems and / or any issues that need attention
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • College Degree in accounting or related field required
  • Must have 1-3 years strong accounting experience
  • Experience with auditing internal controls and procedures
  • Good, working knowledge of GAAP
  • Working knowledge and experience in analyzing financial statements
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems and processes
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language to communicate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards; Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics); or PDI
