Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing complex financial aid processing, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and reconciliation of federal programs.

This position also coordinates office workflow and provides training to other staff members, while acting as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, this position encompasses resolving escalated financial aid issues and concerns, researching and troubleshooting regulatory and technology-related issues.

Essential Functions

45% - Coordinate financial aid programs and activities, ensuring that policies and procedures are consistently implemented and office workflows are efficient.

Research and analyze guidelines and regulations, and provide technically complex student advising and processing services to a diverse population of staff, students, and the public.

25% - Oversee and reconcile Federal programs, including Federal Work-Study, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Student Loans, using respective databases, and exercising professional judgment when necessary.

10% - Coordinates office workflow and ensures compliance with department policies and procedures.

10% - Communicates effectively with students, internal customers, and external agencies, while creating and maintaining a variety of program materials, reports, presentations, and documentation.

10% - Provides training and orientation to other staff members, as assigned, and performs additional duties commensurate with the level of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

Must be able to access federal financial aid databases.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) working in a financial aid office.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience interpreting financial aid policies, practices, procedures, regulations and / or guidelines.
  • Two (2) or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) in the use of packaging, awarding and / or disbursing student financial aid in compliance with federal laws.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience utilizing internal / external databases necessary for awarding student financial aid, such as PeopleSoft (SIS), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and Central Processing System (CPS).
  • Two (2) or more years' experience with direct customer service student contact.

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving : http : / / www.
