Lab Chemist I

Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is looking to add a Lab Chemist I to our team. Our Lab Chemist I isresponsible for sample preparation, the analysis of samples to determine their chemical and physical properties.

Shift : 2nd shift- 3pm- 12am; Monday-Friday. OT and Saturdays will be periodically needed; Training will be completed on a 1st shift- will need to be available for 4-6 weeks for this to be accomplished.

Key Responsibilities :

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols;
• Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems;
• Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation;
• Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems;
• Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion;
• Ensures that all work meets applicable QA / QC guidelines;
• Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices;
• Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.

Key Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent required;
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required;
• 1-5 years’ experience in hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods;
• Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments / tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations preferred;
• Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail;
• Effective communication skills in writing and in verbal, will be interacting with people of various education and technical backgrounds;
• Ability to work in a team environment.
