We are reinventing the approach to learning at Purdue Polytechnic High School. Our Core Principles of Personalized Learning, Project-based Learning, Academic Progress, Career Pathways, and People guide everything we do.

Projects drive student academic work, and instruction is based solely on students' individual and collective needs. No predetermined classes exist where students move in groups according to a master schedule.

Rather, teachers work together to arrange time for student instruction based on who needs it, when they need it, and how they best receive it.

Job Summary

The School Receptionist provides office services by supporting and implementing administrative systems, procedures, and policies;

and monitoring administrative projects. Maintains efficient and effective front office functionality and procurement of supplies.

Serves the needs of students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Monitors all incoming public traffic.
  • Receives guests and others in a courteous, polite, and warm manner.
  • Respond to the needs of students, families, and visitors by providing immediate assistance.
  • Appropriately and accurately prepares and distributes routine correspondence.
  • May provide clerical and administrative support to the various departments.
  • Receive and follow reception schedule / instructions from supervisor as outlined in established policies and procedures.
  • Operate telephone system as required.
  • Answer telephone, determine the nature of the call, and relay information or route calls as appropriate.
  • Assist in the direct supervision of the attendance process.
  • Oversee attendance accounting and the preparation of attendance reports.
  • Enforce PPHS's rules and regulations related to school attendance reports.
  • Work closely with all school personnel regarding student attendance and welfare matters.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the school or PPHS administration.

Qualifications & Skills

Ability to answer the telephone, take detailed messages, respond to verbal inquiries, take direction from different sources, handle multiple tasks, and be organized in a fast-paced environment.

Typing of 30-40 wpm may be required if secretarial support is needed.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in general office procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills; oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to project a professional image.
