Job Summary
As a school psychologist, you will support teachers and administrators by promoting the mental health and well-being of your students.
You will perform psychological and / or academic assessments and recommend interventions to support students’ mental, emotional, and behavioral health in a learning environment.
As a mental health professional, your colleagues will look to you to offer best practices, strategies, and solutions to serve the students in your school best.
Your students will vary in age from grades K-12, to be determined by the school district. Their mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges may range from mild to moderate to severe.
The level of intervention they require will be determined on a case-by-case basis, often according to the parameters set forth in their individual education plans (IEP) or 504 plans.
You will regularly collaborate with other school-based behavioral health professionals, counselors, therapists, and paraprofessionals.
You will work directly with students to develop or improve communication skills, mediate conflict resolution, promote positive peer relationships, and prevent bullying and violence.
You will also identify at-risk students and provide crisis prevention strategies as needed.
You will foster a positive relationship between the school and families by regularly communicating with parents about their children's mental health and academic progress.
You will also connect families with community resources and coordinate outside services when appropriate.
We are looking for a versatile school psychologist who is willing to collaborate with a diverse group of students, families, educators, and administrators.
Our ideal applicant is compassionate, steady under pressure, and capable of meeting the needs of students who require a significant level of mental, emotional, and behavioral support.
