We arecurrently searching for an accomplished CONTROLLER to Directfinance & accounting operations at our clients Brooklyn NYcorporateheadquarters.
NOTE* This positionwill begin as a three to sixmonth contracttohire status withpayroll / taxes / insurance administrated through StaffBankHR for our client in the manufacturing industry.
The successful candidate will be converted to a permanent position as determined bythe HiringManager.
Reportingto the C.F.O. / C.E.O the CONTROLLER will monitordepartment policies and procedures recommend improvements consultwith the senior management team participates in establishing andimplementing major goals and objectives and serve as a resource inall aspects of accounting.
This leadershiprole will also ensure accurate internal and external recording andreporting of financial transactions. Oversees budgeting general ledger accounts payable andreceivable payroll fixed asset management etc.
as wellas being adept at managing their team within the finance &accountingdepartment.
General Responsibilities
Assists SeniorManagement in developing short and long term goals and objectivesfor the AccountingDepartment.
Ensuresaccounting plans goals and policies are consistent with establishedCompanywidegoals.
Ensures policiesare in accordance with evolving regulations legal requirements andindustrytrends.
Supervises thedevelopment and implementation of financial information and controlsystems including general ledger budgeting cost allocation and othersubsystems.
Oversees thepreparation of daily monthly annual and other periodic financialstatements and reports. Ensures externaldocument submissions and filings are accurate andtimely.
Coordinates taxreporting requirements. Works withexternal accountants to file federal state payroll and personal taxreturns.
Oversees the preparation andfiling of payroll taxes and tracks and reports fringe benefit taxdata (relocation expense reimbursements use of Company vehiclesetc.).
Prepares andmonitors the Accounting Department budget and businessplan.
Coordinates theannual audit. Ensures that accountingrecords and reports are in compliance with GAAP and governmentregulations.
Cooperates with and assists external auditors asappropriate.
Oversees thepreparation and control of operationalbudgets.
Ensureseffective financial internal controls for the Department and theCompany. Continually evaluates establishedpolicies and procedures and updates or modifies them asnecessary.
Documents and createsflowcharts to organize departmentprocesses.
Completesfinancial analyses of Company cash flow investment strategiesbanking relationships debt management etc. Develops and implementsimprovements asappropriate.
Serves as aliaison between the Company and external auditors and regulatoryauthorities. Oversees hiring and successionplanning for the Department.
Communicateswith HR about staffing requirements and submits requests forfilling open positions. Conversely works with HR in conjunctionwith managing annual performance reviews implementing coursecorrection up to performance improvement plans and termination whenwarranted.
Requirements
Required Core Competency / Skills / Education / Experience
Proven experience as a Financial Controller
Completedemonstrable knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Indepth understanding of (GAAP)
Awareness of business / financial trends
NetSuite ERPaccounting / financialfunctionality
Advanced MS Office / Excel skills
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
Professional Experience within a corporate accounting team at a midsize business accounting experience within a manufacturing businessis stronglypreferred.
Thoroughknowledge of financial and accounting practices and proceduresgovernmental regulations & reporting procedures andmanufacturing businessenvironments.
Five plus yearsof highlevel accounting experience combined with an additionalthree (3) years of experience supervising a team of no fewer than 3lowerlevel accounting professionals (includingAR / AP)
Requiresa combination of bachelor s and master s degrees in accountingbusiness or a related field;
CPA preferred andmay be substituted for master sdegree.
