Summary
Provides nutritional assessments for patients and develops appropriate plans of care based on needs. Documents assessments and recommendations appropriately.
Instructs patients and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation. Maintains current knowledge in with dietetic practices and engages in nutritional research and maintains registration status through the Commission of Dietetic Registration.
Education and Formal Training :
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition required. Current N.C. Licensed Dietitian / Nutritionist (LDN) required.

Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Knoweldge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to write letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conform to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
Possess the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistics. Possess the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Possess the ability to maintain confidential client information.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to meet physical and mental requirements in a fast-paced, complex ambulatory care setting including verbal communication with patients, families, and staff members, minor lifting, self-ambulating, good visual activity, organizational skills, and computer skills.
Much of the time is spent walking to meet with patients in the clinical environment. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parental contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
