What You'll Do

Team Development : the strategy & business development team is critical for defining and guiding the execution of Fastly’s business.

This requires a strong team that not only understands and adapts to the quickly evolving landscape, but excels at cross-functional leadership to orchestrate all of Fastly’s capabilities to drive outcomes for our customers and Fastly.

As the leader of this team, one of your most important responsibilities will be building and developing this team.

  • Strategic Vision : you will work with the CPO, CEO, and other senior leaders to define and articulate a compelling yet achievable strategic vision to capture the market's attention and align stakeholders toward a common direction.
  • Strategy : you will work with the CPO, CEO, product line leaders, and other senior leaders to define and articulate a clear strategy to differentiate Fastly vs.

competitors, drive growth, and build sustainable competitive advantages.

  • Business Development : working with senior leaders across the company, you will lead the cross-functional planning and execution of complex and strategic business development activities, including technology partnerships, strategic customer engagements, and M&A.
  • Collaborative Product Strategy Development : you will work with product management teams and leadership as an at large product strategist, helping teams integrate their strategy into the overall company strategy, mentoring product management on strategy formulation, bringing additional perspectives to product strategy discussions, and challenging assumptions to help validate and improve our product strategies.
  • Pricing & Packaging : working with product management, finance, and executive leadership, driving effective, consistent pricing and packaging strategies that optimize Fastly’s value in the marketplace and advance Fastly’s overall strategy.
  • Market Analysis : identify the best areas for profitable growth by understanding the markets we operate in deeply and identifying attractive new and adjacent markets to fuel Fastly’s future growth.
  • Learning / Continuous Improvement : a strategy is only as good as the outcomes it enables. You and your team will work with Fastly’s product teams, go-to-market teams, partners, and customers to understand deeply what is working and what is not, and strive to improve our strategy continuously.

You will foster a balanced culture where mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn, but there is appropriate levels of accountability to drive improvement and results.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant executive-level experience leading strategy and business development, ideally in the cloud (IaaS / PaaS) and / or enterprise software space.
  • Experience in strategy consulting is a plus, as is an MBA
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to address strategy questions with a rigorous but pragmatic approach.
  • Experience creating and managing strategic partnerships with a track record of achieving long-term outcomes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrix environment; strong influence skills and ability to get things done with teams that report to you as well as teams across the company;

Experience partnering and leading cross-functionally.

  • Strong executive presentation skills; experience working with senior management, both at your own company and customers / partners.
  • Exceptional business strategy skills, ability to formulate robust, specific strategies and communicate them in a clear and concise manner.
  • High emotional intelligence. Fastly teams care about one another, collaborate regularly and are part of a people-first organization.

Work Hours :

This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements :

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

Salary :

The estimated salary range for this position is $266,270.00 to $332,840.00

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
