Supported employment refers to service provisions wherein people with disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, mental health and traumatic brain injury, among others, are assisted with obtaining and maintaining employment.
As a Job Coach, you will provide mentoring and support to our Supported Employment Consumers / Clients. This means that in addition to helping employees learn a new job, a job coach can provide one-on-one monitoring and support until the employee has mastered job duties or overcome other work-related issues.
You will be assigned a Consumer / Client by the Employment Manager who will work with you to understand the job the Consumer has been hired for and their unique needs in training for the new job.

Essential Job FunctionsTrain consumers / clients as needed to meet work expectations on the job siteUtilize positive interventions when supporting individuals at the work site.
Utilize coaching tools to increase motivation and productivityAbility to be flexible.Work one-on-one with clients to improve work skills and production skills to meet employer expectationsObserve, evaluate, and document each consumer's / client's performanceMaintain accurate records on each consumer / clientComplete required billing paperwork for each consumer / clientFamiliarize with multiple aspects of the company the consumer / client works atOrient the consumer / client to the employer's policies and proceduresAssure the confidentiality of information regarding program individualsWillingness to travel in personal vehicle to various work sitesExperienceA minimum of 6 months experience in supervision, training, and / or working with persons with disabilitiesHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required, some college is preferredDemonstrate strong communication skillsDemonstrate strong organization and documentation skillsDesire to work with and demonstrate a high sensitivity toward persons with barriers and disadvantages to employmentGeneral knowledge and ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and patienceReliable transportation, a valid, current driver's license, insurance and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), to drive for company-related businessPass all background checksAbout The Whole PersonThe Whole Person is a Center for Independent Living founded in 1978 as a private non-profit organization providing a full range of community-based services for people with disabilities.
