Job Summary :
Fountain Springs Healthcare Center seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our amazing team. This individual should possess superior interpersonal, supervisory, and clinical skills and have a working knowledge of skilled nursing.
They will be responsible in assisting in the coordination, organization, implementation, evaluation and direction of the nursing services department as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules and regulations and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.
Essential Functions :
- Evaluates resident and staff training needs, and provides the Executive Director (ED) and DNS with comprehensive recommendations concerning the educational / training needs of nursing staff.
- Demonstrates consistent ability to identify problems, report in an objective manner, and take appropriate corrective action.
- Administer, plan, develop, evaluate, coordinate and educate any and all programs for the facility's staff.
- Instructs and tests Certified Nursing Aide students after completion of classroom portion of training program.
- Maintains current education records of classes / in-services conducted, attendance, and clinical performance of each nursing attendee, as well as attendance records of other employees.
- Maintains an education profile for each nursing employee overseeing and documenting required education has been completed in SNF Clinic.
- Facilitate and conduct all nursing department meetings.
- Track and monitor trending infections in the facility and educate staff regarding infection control policies and procedures.
- Observes and teaches the facility infection control policies and procedures.
- Facilitates and conducts conversations with providers concerning antibiotic stewardship.
- Maintains all records and data in a neat, organized manner for prompt retrieval.
- Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as directed.
- Assist with determining and monitoring the staffing needs of the nursing department and ensure the assignment of appropriate and adequate numbers of nursing staff daily for each shift to ensure that the needs of the residents met.
- Assist with the interviewing and selection with the Director of Nursing and Administrator’s approval all Nurses and Certified Nursing assistants.
- Ensure that medical and nursing care is administered in accordance with the resident’s wishes and per the individualized care plan.
- Assists in all other assigned tasks and activities designated by the Director of Nursing and / or Executive Director.
Education, Licensure, and Experience :
- Required : Current Registered Nursing license in South Dakota
- Required : One years experience in Skilled Nursing
- Required : Must have certification as Infection Preventionist or obtain through the CDC
- Preferred : One years experience and demonstrated competence in planning, implementing and directing educational programs for adults in the nursing field.
- Preferred : One years experience with infection control
- Ability to work well in a team setting
