UCS Storage Engineer

Must be willing to obtain a Top Secret Clearance

The primary goal of this position is to be a valued contributor within the Operations Systems Support, Compute team in the support of the Managed Services Infrastructure UCS and storage engineer role.

Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including the planning, implementation, design, capacity management and operational support for the Cisco UCS and EMC storage platforms supporting Verizon Managed Services applications and tools.

You will collaborate with Operations Systems Support, Network Infrastructure, Security Infrastructure, Project teams, IT, Operations and Product teams.

Activities including but not limited to Change, Incident, Problem and Risk Management. You will be expected to own and drive resolution of highly complex UCS and storage related user and application issues involving both normal business hours and off-hour escalations or maintenance activities.

• Under minimal supervision, this engineer will be responsible for translating functional business requirements into a technical solution that conforms to global design standards.
• Research developments in their assigned technology disciplines, determines
• business requirements, proposes changes, and develops migration and implementation plans as needed.
• Understand and effectively articulate the implications and impact that proposed changes will have on the business.
• Develop lab scenarios to mock user environments and test components of proposed solutions.
• Install, test, maintain, and upgrade storage systems software and hardware in accordance with department policies.

What we’re looking for...

You will need to have :

• Bachelor degree and minimum of 5 years’ experience; or 7+ years of relevant work experience with UCS and / or storage platforms and compliance programs.
• Proven leadership skills in an enterprise infrastructure or network role.
• Hands-on knowledge with UCS equipment (VMWare / VCenter / ESXi), VMware, EMC SAN Storage, SAN Fabric and switching architectures.
• Hands-on experience with configuration, deployment, and administration of Cisco UCS and EMC SAN storage.
• Experience planning and implementing enterprise storage solutions using EMC SAN storage, Cisco UCS, and VMware with Cisco networking routers and switches.
• Good understanding of Fibre Channel switch infrastructure including Cisco MDS 9700 / 9148, zoning and fabric management in a direct connect and virtual environment.
• Working experience in analyzing and predicting trends for Cisco virtualization and storage equipment performance and space allocation.
• Intermediate working knowledge network and security managed services and management systems.
• ITIL v4 Foundation certification achieved within the first 6 months of start date.
• Willingness to be on call and varying work hours, including weekend’s holidays.
• Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers, associates, vendors, and management.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills

• EMC, VMware, Linux and / or Cisco certifications.
• Experience in ISO 27001, PCI and SSAE16 SOC compliance.
• Linux working experience.
• Scripting, Database, Queries experience.
• Knowledge of managed services platforms and applications.
• Network experience (Cisco).
• Project management experience.
