ABOUT THE JOB
MU Healthcare is looking for a Healthcare Building Trades Apprentice as an Electrician. This candidate will work along with skilled trades / journey-leveled workers to provide assistance to trade services and provide an opportunity to expose entry-level personnel to the inner workings of healthcare facilities maintenance support.
Trainees will be learn how to repair, maintain, and replace electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial Health Care machinery and equipment, following National Electric Code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
Runs diagnoses, tests, and maintain systems and machinery used in hospital setting. Designs, run conduit and wiring, for power supply systems.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
- Assist building trades with work meeting accepted trade standards.
- Gain insight and skill in troubleshooting and repair of trade accountability items.
- Gain knowledge and skill in the use of trade related tools and equipment.
- Learn to work from verbal and written plans and technical data including blueprints.
- Work with related trade teams to effect finished projects.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills.
- Learn appropriate safety protocols for work in healthcare such as restricted areas, isolation, infection control / universal precautions, life safety, regulatory guidelines and personal protective equipment.
- Ability to apply creative solutions to unique problems encountered in the healthcare setting.
- May complete unit / department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. Operate and maintain electrical chillers and steam absorbers.
Maintain and repair heating, air conditioning, ventilation systems, boiler, or cooling tower systems from single room units to complete building systems.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Vocational training.
Additional license / certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
