The company’s Commercial Strategy team at Texas Petroleum Group (TPG), Houston unit is growing and in search of a capable and experienced Brand and Communications Administrator for the Timewise convenience stores.
The purpose of this position is to manage the planning and execution of the Timewise’ in-store communications strategy, promotional plan, and its implementation workload.
Central to the role is the facilitation of a cohesive and on-brand set of messages, integrating the activities within Timewise’s promotional calendar.
These promo activities are both internal or agreed with Timewise suppliers by the TPG HQ category management team.
Position Summary :
This position will work out of TPG headquarters located in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate is one who understands the value that effective communications have at the retail point of sale.
We are looking for a candidate that works effectively in a team environment, understand the c-store retail channel of trade, its suppliers and how various communication methods fit together to form a cohesive brand message for Timewise.
The Brand and Communications Manager position is under the direction of the VP Marketing for Timewise. This position is responsible for directly developing and coordinating the resources and production of promotional materials for the Timewise convenience stores in Texas and New Mexico.
This position is also accountable for the management of design agencies supporting the Timewise business and for coordinating its resources.
The communication mix used by Timewise includes but is not limited to; print media, in-store radio, loyalty program, and soon, social media and digital strategy.
This communication mix supports a strategy for a 360 approach to building brand awareness & driving incremental sales.
Responsibilities :
- Create and further refine the in-store communication guidelines and associated templates for all components of the Timewise brand and communication mix.
- Develop brand standards and communication guidelines for in-store point of sale materials, including endcaps, floor displays and others.
- Holds and manage the day-to-day relationship with the design agencies supporting Timewise convenience stores.
- Manages the brand and communication tactical budget for Timewise.
- Develop an annual promotions calendar that integrates the needs of all category plans developed for the Timewise offer to customers.
- Facilitate promotions and merchandising planning meetings to deliver the promotional calendar, aligning and integrating operations departments and category management support.
- Provide ongoing promotional sales performance data and insights report regularly and formally every quarter for top promotions.
- Communicate with operations on the implementation of the promotional plan, including the timely display and removal of promotional and related signage.
- Monitor sign formats and templates to ensure store is using established brand standards and guidelines.
- Suggest potential promotional opportunities that addresses industry trends and insights gained utilizing available data at Timewise.
Qualifications :

- Experience in retail, especially the convenience retail space is a significant advantage to any applicant
- Strong project management, organizational and planning skills
- Website Management Skills preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organizational, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
On the technical communications side :
- Ability to strategize and develop a retail communication plan.
- The ability to measure the success of the promotional plan by tracking KPIs and perform post promotional reviews with insights for future tactical promotions.
- An analytical approach that supports category managers to support negotiating promotions for a particular audience and brand approach.
- The ability to develop a clear approval and prioritization process for different message types.
- An awareness of the latest tools and a willingness to explore new technologies
- Undergraduate degree in communications, business administration or marketing.
- 2+ year experience in a brand and communication or retail marketing role.
- Experience in the convenience retail channel is an asset for any applicant
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Exposure to Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign)
