POSITIONSUMMARY : The Chief Therapist, in collaboration withand under the direction of the Manager of Medical Physics, isaccountable for ongoing shift leadership, and for the operation ofthe Radiation Oncology department.
The Chief Therapist providesdirect supervision of the radiation therapy technologists, monitorspatient workflow, educates the radiation therapy technologists whennecessary, provides care for patients while delivering radiationtherapy, and works as a Tech, as scheduled.
The Chief Therapistcoaches and guides radiation therapy technologists under his / hersupervision; demonstrates Professionalism and Excellence by actingas a role model for clinical and service excellence.
The ChiefTherapist will be responsible for creating and maintaining theschedules, this will include finding coverage for time-offrequests.
Requirements
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : Graduate of anaccredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology, ARRTcredentialed as a registered radiation therapy technologist.
Bachelor Degree preferred.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSES : Current Radiology license in the State of NewMexico.
SKILLS :
- Technical knowledgeof radiation therapy equipment, Anatomy and Physiology
- Knowledge of treatment positioning, medical terminology,radiation therapy quality assurance and quality controlrequirements
- Basic computer skills.
EXPERIENCE : Minimum seven years of experience required

Works irregular hours. Multiple simultaneous activities of patient care. Exposure toinfectious diseases and x-rays. Exposure to varyingunpredictable situations.
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS : Must be able to handle emergencysituations, prolonged, extensive or considerable standing. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics.
Lifts,positions, pushes and / or transfers patients or equipment in excessof 50 lbs. Hearing and visual acuity within normallimits.
Manual dexterity and fine motor coordinationrequired
