Mechanical Design Engineer
Long term contract opportunity in Lenexa, KS for a Mechanical Design Engineer role. The Mechanical Design Engineer is a design position where most of the workload (85%) will be updating 2D drawings using NX / Teamcenter.
The work is being driven by the implementation of SAP (ERP software). This role is on-site 5 days / week in Lenexa, KS.

Required Skills & Experience
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws / regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience designing and troubleshooting mechanical oxygen or gaseous systems including regulators, cylinders, hosing, and breathing systems.
- Experience in developing mounting containers for the oxygen and passenger service unit systems.
- Mechanical component obsolescence and alternate parts mitigation.
- Experience with Aerospace products
- Experience with DO-160 or MIL-STD environmental qualification.
- Experience with Oxygen Systems or Passenger Service Units (PSUs) or similar systems.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD development tools and integration with Team Center
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the technical mechanical product expert as you partner with project engineers, electrical engineers, software / system engineers, certification engineers, and other project team members from around the world while designing circuit board integrations for all things oxygen.
- Lead the analysis of our existing processes while also developing new processes.
- Be involved in all phases of the engineering processes from concept evaluation and proposal to design and development to qualification / certification and product field support.
- Participate and / or chair design reviews and lessons learned to ensure mechanical design maturity and troubleshooting any challenges.
- Gain exposure to global stakeholders and peers at our facilities in India and Germany.
- Become an expert at regulatory and customer compliance.
- Be able to takes initiative to suggest improvements to product and processes.
- Learn how Oxygen systems work for passengers, crew, and even parachutist.
