HVAC Mechanic willperform installation and maintenance of components used in campus heating,ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment includingchilled water, refrigeration, air compressor, gas heater, air drier, fumehoods, and pumps.
This position will regularly provide work direction to lowerlevel mechanics and maintenance personnel.
Essential Functions
HVAC Maintenance 80%
- Provide training and support to facilities technicians on all HVAC related repairs and PM work
- Install, repair, replace, operate, maintain, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing component used in HVAC
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
- Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls
- Manage Building Automation System
- Provide work direction to mechanics and maintenance personnel related to HVAC system installation and maintenance
Safety Compliance 15%
- Comply and ensure that safety and dress codes are carried out in accordance with department policies, including wearing assigned PPE
- Attend required training sessions on assigned PPE provided by the College
- Maintain clean and safe working environment
- Perform daily machine clean-up and maintenance
Non-Essential 5%
Perform other related duties as assigned
Thisis a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 6am to 2pm,with occasional overtime. This positionmay require flexibility to work a staggered, remote or alternate schedule tomeet the demands of the work, which could include weekends or evenings.
Required Qualifications :
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman level license in HVAC
- 7 years’ experience with technical building systems
- CFC and EPA certification
- Building Management System (BMS) experience
- Work Order Management system experience
- Possess a valid California Driver License andproof of insurance
- Read, write and understand the English languageto be able to interact effectively with staff, faculty, contractors and vendors
- Knowledge of good safety practices and proceduresand the ability to put them into practice
- Ability to read and interpret building floorplans and technical manuals
- This job requires intermediate level(journeyman / master) knowledge and skills for installing and maintainingcompressors, fans, bearings, belts, dampers, motors, starters, controls, 208,200, and 460 service, 24 volt-DC service, coils and piping
- Ability to read prints, drawings, andschematics via paper copies and computerized software systems
- Ability to operate machine tools, motor vehicles(may include forklift), hand / power tools, and hydraulic / pneumatic equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and to sequence tasksfor specific assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Associatesdegree or technical degree from a recognized trade school, or equivalentexperience
- AutomatedLogic Controls (ALC) experience preferred
