Position Summary
The Philosophy Department at UW-La Crosse is soliciting qualified candidates to teach one or more sections of the following courses : PHL 100 Introduction to Philosophy, and PHL 101 Introduction to Logic.
Teaching assignments will be made for one semester and can be renewed, depending upon program needs and instructor performance.
Position requires a Master’s degree or higher in philosophy or a related area, commitment to instructors who can teach online sections.
Prior teaching experience is preferred. Applications for this position are valid for two years.
Under the department chair’s general supervision, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses.
In addition to preparing for and holding classes online , teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours.
In addition, the workload may involve advising students and / or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree except in rare circumstances where post-baccalaureate certification or licensure or a baccalaureate plus experience can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position .
All persons hired for Academic Instruction will be required to submit all of their official copies of their transcripts to Human Resources upon hire.
