Description
TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Installation Technician to join our team in the San Francisco Bay area.
Job Summary : The Installation Technician will perform on-site or in-house servicing, repair and / or installation of company product(s).
This job may include any aspect of field support and installation, and is not limited to electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation;
conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation. Determines most effective means to install equipment to maximize efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs equipment including but not limited to cameras, detectors, controller cabinets.
- Installs electrical conductor, data conductor, and fiber optic cable.
- Installs pull boxes, conduit, poles and foundations.
- Connects conductors to equipment to make equipment work correctly.
- Connects electrical conductors to power services to energize equipment.
- Tests devices to ensure they work correctly.
- Prepares logs to keep track of field conditions and installation activities.
- Isolation of faults in units or components.
- Field test of units or components.
Education : High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Required Skills & Experience :
- Experience pulling fiber optic cable
- Experience with civil groundwork and other infrastructure
- Electric cable routing and general cable pulling experience
- Good writing, communication, mechanical, and computer skills
- Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Must maintain CA driver’s license in good standing as verified by TransCore
- Driving record must be free of DUI / DWI for three-year period prior to employment
Desired Skills :
- Fiber optic splicing and testing
- AVI tuning
- Some experience working with Linux preferred
- Prior toll maintenance and electronic bench repair experience preferred
Other Requirements :
- Required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.
- Regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
- Comfortable with confined space work.
Salary Range : $30 - $62 hourly, based upon experience.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment drug testing including THC.
