We are looking for an energetic, positive person to join the team of a very busy Activity Department. An Activity Assistant leads various social & recreational programs in large and small group settings.
To be effective in this job, you need to be patient, have compassion and like to have fun. You will assist the Activity Director in planning and programming as well as, documenting the participation of the residents.
The Activity Assistant is responsible for carrying out activities that are meaningful to the residents based on their life interests and hobbies.
Activities should enhance the quality of life and self-esteem of each resident.
ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES :
Leading daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
Utilizing techniques during activities that accommodate those with special needs.
Observing participants at events to gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.
Documenting participation and responses to various activity interventions
Reporting medical concerns or observations.
Carrying out the Activity Program as scheduled and on time.
Transporting residents to and from activities.
Assisting with writing the monthly newsletter.
Assisting with thematic and seasonal decorating.
Supervising resident smoking.
Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.
Activities Assistant Requirements :
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related preferred but not required.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical fitnesses, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.
Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.
Good skills with computers, electronic devices, and audio / video equipment is beneficial.
Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.
Flexibility to work when needed, every other weekend is required and possibly some evenings.
Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
