Overview
Works under the direction of the Director of Nursing. Supervises and directs nursing services on one or more units in a facility.
Evaluates, plans, implements, and executes resident care and directs all activities in order to provide quality service.
Maintains close contact with residents, families and staff while coordinating nursing services with all other disciplines.
What you will do
Assigns duties to professional and non-professional staff according to education, training, policy and resident need in order to assure quality resident care is delivered.
Engages team members for optimal performance and addresses performance as needed.
- Works with DON / Nurse Manager to manage staffing for assigned shifts.
- Provides direct nursing care to residents. Directs and assists in emergent or "code" situations . Utilizes Interact process to assure proper documentation and follow through.
- Contributes to the development, maintenance, or modifications to care plans. Identifies changes in condition with proper documentation according to nursing practice standards.
Demonstrates consistent follow through for positive resident outcomes. Utilizes good judgment and specialized skills.
- Allows resident choices within limits of capability considering safety / dignity issues and follows policies and procedures of facility to include resident privacy and dignity.
- Works with DON / Nurse Manager on boarding, orientation, staffing and supervision of the nursing staff.
Qualifications
Experience
Charge nurse or supervisory experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
- CPR / BLS Certification - American Heart Association / American Red Cross / American Safety and Health Institute (AHA / ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
