We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer to join our Digital Water Team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Senior Controls Engineer and will perform instrumentation and controls design activities associated with variety of municipal water and wastewater projects.

Extensive experience with water and wastewater infrastructure design is desired. This position is reserved for individuals that can demonstrate an ability to work independently, successfully adhering to project standards while adhering to delivery schedules and budgets on multiple simultaneous projects.

Your Role :

  • Instrumentation and Controls systems planning and design;
  • Develop detailed : P&IDs, network diagrams, PLC panel layouts, control system algorithms, and field instrument lists;
  • Design of low voltage electrical systems;
  • Perform field investigation, start-up and troubleshooting of control systems;
  • Prepare project-specific technical specifications, using CSI Master Format;
  • Meet project schedules and perform work within budgetary constraints;
  • Prepare status reports, basis-of-design descriptions, project manuals, responses to client comments, memoranda of understanding, and other project-related documentation;
  • Perform technical presentations in group settings and interviews;
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff;
  • Provide construction administration support including review of construction submittals for compliance with project documents, response to contractor requests for information (RFI's) and inspection of completed work for compliance with construction documents
  • Participate in and oversee control system testing and commissioning
  • Accurately estimate I&C construction costs at various levels of project development;
  • Strong focus on client satisfaction and repeat business, the ability to interface directly with client

Qualifications :

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in a consulting engineering role;
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering;
  • Professional Engineering (PE) or (P. ENG Canadian) preferred;
  • Ability to work in project teams on large projects, effectively working with engineering staff;
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills;
  • Ability to confidently perform technical presentations in group settings and interviews;
  • In-depth understanding of following codes and standards as they relate to water and wastewater : NFPA, IEEE, and ISA;
  • Experience in the design of control systems for various water and wastewater facilities : pump stations, headworks, aeration basins, clarifiers, filters, chemical feed systems, UV treatment, operations and maintenance buildings, degritting, sludge treatment, digesters, and effluent disposal
  • Understanding of radio-based communication networks used in water and wastewater
  • Experience testing, commissioning and troubleshooting control systems at water and wastewater facilities
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
