Position Summary

The Workday Release and Test Analyst will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the deployment of Workday updates and enhancements, as well as developing and executing test plans inclusive of all HR systems to ensure these changes meet the highest standards of quality.

This role requires close collaboration with HR, IT, and other business units to ensure seamless integration and minimal disruption to business operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Workday HCM, excellent project management skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Execution

Identify testing scenarios, positive and negative, and develop comprehensive test plans and test cases for HR system updates, enhancements, new features and new functionality delivered by the Projects team.

Oversee the execution of manual and automated tests to ensure functionality, performance and reliability.

Coordinate and manage the team's testing activities, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.

Track defects and issues, working closely with HRIS teams to resolve them.

Coordinate and ensure end-to-end testing of business processes and workflows within Workday.

Workday Release Management

Improve and innovate the current release management process.

Plan and manage the deployment of Workday updates, enhancements, and new features.

Coordinate with HR, IT, and other business units to ensure successful implementation and integration.

Develop and maintain release schedules, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.

Coordinate WD releases and weekly updates.

Coordinate testing across the team (including resourcing for projects).

Build test scripts and make case for automated testing.

Review upcoming sprints items to ensure requirements are documented and clear before the sprint starts, hopefully reducing rollover items.

This will help the team connect the dots more between project work and Tier 3 sprint items.

Ensure enhancements (Product and Projects) are efficiently and effectively transitioned from Release to Operations with the appropriate training for the rest of the team, especially Ops.

Change Management

Assess the impact of Workday updates on current business processes and systems.

Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions.

Prepare documentation for Product Leads to communicate changes effectively to all stakeholders.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with HR, IT, and other business units to understand requirements and ensure alignment on testing and release objectives.

Provide regular status updates and reports on release and testing progress, issues, and outcomes.

Participate in project meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of release and QA processes and methodologies.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain detailed documentation of release processes, test plans, test cases, and test results.

Create and maintain QA metrics and dashboards to track and analyze testing performance.

Provide input on risk assessments and mitigation strategies based on testing and release outcomes.

Continuous Improvement

Stay current with Workday updates, best practices, and industry trends.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Continuously evaluate and improve the testing and QA strategy and explore automation.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

3-5 years of experience in Workday HCM, with a focus on release management, quality assurance, or similar roles.

Strong project management skills, with experience in Agile methodologies preferred.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QA tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
