We are looking for a Equipment Specialist to join our Smartpress team. You’ll be part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products to our customers.
The Equipment Specialist is responsible for planning routine maintenance and training for equipment, as well as developing strategies to enhance the overall reliability and safety of the plant, personnel, and production processes.
This role extends beyond routine maintenance, encompassing troubleshooting and necessary upgrades. Additionally, the Equipment Specialist serves as a mentor and resource for Machine Operators and Maintenance staff.
Shifts available : Monday through Friday 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM (must have the flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends to provide repair services as needed.
This role is on call for 24 / 7)
A variety of these traits will help land you this job if you have :
- Two-year degree or certificate from a Vocational-Technical school
- 3 years’ minimum related experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a printing environment
- Previous work experience performing training for operations staff preferred.
On top of that you must :
- be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization
- apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling tools, repairing machines and printing equipment and to review detailed reports and information
- have the ability to lift tools and equipment up to 50 pounds
- stand and walk to move around the plan area several hours throughout the day
In this position, you will :
- maintain equipment integrity and print quality; ensures high print quality at all times
- design, plan and implement maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
- monitor and control maintenance costs
- develop and maintain maintenance logs for the equipment
- supervise all operator-driven maintenance operations
- supervise shift maintenance
- conduct daily audits of printing quality
- assist the Production team in keeping current on shift maintenance
- perform shift maintenance when there is no Operator or when the work is directed to other equipment
- perform advanced maintenance, e.g., monthly maintenance and longer cycles
- train operators and ensure that the machines are not misused
- document training activities and generate printed reports
- develop monthly tests to check operator awareness
- monitor printing conditions on a machine by machine basis
- onboard new equipment and lead the cross-functional team required to deliver, place, set-up equipment and utility needs, and program with Facilities, Color Management, and outside riggers and electricians for placement
- record equipment conditions, frequent problems, and service actions
- maximize equipment utilization
- test applications and find new ways to print existing applications more efficiently
- find ways to print new applications
- train planning department staff on the most efficient ways to print every application on each piece of equipment
- train operators on best practices for proper use of the equipment
- minimize equipment-related downtime
- perform diagnosis of breakdown problems
- act as a primary contact with equipment manufacturers
- provide 24 / 7 phone support for Operators
- perform field repairs, including modifications of equipment and machines when necessary
- perform advanced troubleshooting, including performing tests that determine equipment manufacturers’ diagnoses of complex problems, and assists in identifying needed parts ahead of the arrival of the Field Engineer
- order all ink supplies and parts for printers
- prepare reports on usage and cost of consumables for management
- coordinate electrical, compressed air, ventilation, and networking for printing equipment
- monitor printing environment for fluctuations in temperature and humidity
- perform miscellaneous projects, including running equipment and complete various tasks as requested by management
