The hospital recently added a new five-story tower with 96 patient beds, increasing the acute-care bed count to 338. This expansion increased emergency and trauma services, as well as the surgical unit and intensive care offerings.

Responsibilities

Job Summary :

The PBX Operator is responsible for using computer and telephony systems to quickly and kindly answer and appropriately route incoming calls.

The PBX operator handles and announces life safety code calls using multiple systems including overhead public address and digital paging systems.

The incumbent communicates clearly and professionally to achieve desired goals.

Job Responsibilities :

Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of various computer and telephone systems Effectively utilizes computer based telephony system for all call processing (other than down time scenarios).

Accepts incoming calls, directing them to the proper departments with care and efficiency. Also places outbound and long distance calls as needed

Customer Service acts as the telephonic front door to the organization : Displays a high level of service and commitment to organization and performs in a friendly, professional, and responsible mannerAble to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Effectively communicates with organizational colleagues and leadership.Demonstrates initiative in department. Shares suggestions for process improvements.

Completes daily duties without waiting for direction. Offers and assists others when possible.

Code Processing SkillsRemains calm and professional through each code. Is able to locate and follow established departmental and system processes for code handling and processingMonitors PBX based alarms or panels as appropriate.

Communicates with 911 and alarm monitoring companies based on the type of emergency.

Qualifications

Minimum : Experience :

Experience :

One (1) year customer service or hospital related experience.

Three (3) year's customer service experience preferrably in a hospital PBX or high volume call center preferred

Education : HS / GED

HS / GED

Some college level education preferred

Special Skills :

Intermediate computer skills and accurate typing skills

Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Must be able to multi-task and prioritize during high stress situations (code scenarios).

Comfortable and clear speaking voice when making public address announcements.

English / Spanish bilingual preferred
