The Training Specialist is responsible for assisting in the facilitation and organization of agency training programs.
This position is responsible for observing policies, procedures, and safeguards to protect the privacy of health information in compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
Essential Functions of the Position :
- Facilitates agency training programs
- Prepares training materials
- Arranges and manages learning environment
- Presents curricula and programs
- Tracks required employee training including staff credentialing, training enrollment, completion, certification, and recertification
- Gathers and submits appropriate data and documentation
- Participates in the onboarding of new employees
- Responsible for daily administrative tasks within the department
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements :
Minimum Qualifications : A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in social work, education, human services, psychology, communication, or a closely related field.
One (1) year of direct care experience in healthcare or family and children's services, and one (1) year experience in training, education, or public communication.
Certifications : Currently holds or can obtain trainer certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, American Red Cross CPR / First Aid / AED-Child and Adult, Parenting with Love and Logic, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Ability to maintain positive professional working relationships and to work effectively within a team environment
- Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to accurately document events, provide detailed records, facilitate group activities, and prepare training materials
- Demonstrated ability to speak and present to individuals and large crowds
- Ability to train sound therapeutic and professional techniques for use with a diverse group of clients and caregivers
- Ability to interpret, apply, and train to local, state, federal, and accreditation standards
- Ability to gather and present performance data
- Ability to interact with clients and co-workers in a variety of settings while treating them with dignity and respect.
- Ability to work independently and display creativity
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and database applications
- Ability to read, speak, and write English
- Ability to ensure client and employee confidentiality as prescribed by agency policy and federal law
- Ability to learn and utilize CareLogic and Relias
- Ability to learn, understand, and apply all agency protocol, policy, procedure, plans, and program requirements
Physical Requirements : Ability to engage in sedentary and physical work, such as consumer and agency activities, and the demonstration and training of various physical techniques.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs and bend down frequently. Visual acuity necessary to utilize a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday.
Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment. Ability to communicate verbally, both in person and over the telephone.
Ability to wrap arms around and hold a person. Ability to twist and bend. Must have visual and hearing acuity.
Working Conditions : Work is performed in a community mental health center office setting, as well as in the community.
- Other Requirements : Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification; continual proof of a valid Alaska Driver's License;
- maintain current vehicle insurance and registration on personal vehicle(s) used for company business; maintain a violation free driving record for the past year;
maintain satisfactory criminal background record, and be at least 21 years old due to state licensing requirements.
