Events and Development Specialist

Reporting to the Development Manager and working with the Fund Development Team, the staff member’s responsibilities will be two-fold :

Plan and execute Fund Development events.

Support the Fund Development Team with administrative and donor-related activities.

To be successful in this position, the applicant must have at least two years event experience, be comfortable proactively engaging with the public, and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

ESSENTIAL EVENT PLANNING FUNCTIONS

With support from Fund Development and Communications, plan, organize, and execute Fund Development events including a large fundraiser in the Spring, Christmas Jam House related tasks in the fall / winter, and several community events that benefit AAHH throughout the year.

Organize and execute quarterly dedication and wall raising events, with Development Officers.

Solicit and negotiate with event vendors.

Engage volunteers, staff, and the Events Committee in event planning and execution.

Help promote and publicize events with Fund Development and Communications.

Conduct event evaluations with Fund Development and Communication teams.

ESSENTIAL DEVELOPMENT FUNCTIONS

Update, create, and maintain Donor Perfect constituent records.

Prepare weekly deposits, run donor reports, prepare acknowledgements, and assign follow-up calls.

Generate reports for periodic mailings assigned by Fund Development and Communications.

Participate in Donor Perfect continuing education to keep up with best practices.

Assist with the cultivation and stewardship of sponsors.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

2-years of event experience

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Teams

Good communication skills with a capacity to listen, engage, inspire and persuade diverse constituents.

Ability to think critically, take initiative, and work within a team.

Attention to detail is essential.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

Experience with constituent relationship management system (Donor Perfect, Abila, Raiser’s Edge, or similar).

WORK ENVIRONMENT, SCHEDULE, AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

40 hours a week including some evenings and weekends.

Occasional work in outside conditions that can include inclement weather, heat and humidity, high noise levels, and navigating rough terrain.

Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Occasional travel in Buncombe and Madison Counties

Hybrid work environment available, when possible
