Focus :
Independently purchase insurance and negotiate terms and pricing with various and different insurance carriers.
Close out insurance issues for projects with respect to insurance carrier audits. Negotiate collateral and collateral refunds from carriers.
Maintain a fundamental and thorough understanding of the claims process, especially regarding reserves and the development of claims.
Understand all aspects of the surety program, including pricing for bids. Work with accounting to set up insurance accounts for coverage.
Conduct Prime and Subcontract contract reviews for insurance terms and verification, including the exercise of independent decision-making when procuring insurance under such terms.
Conduct owner contract reviews related to insurance and collaborate with the Legal department and project team to manage and mitigate risks.
Understand direct, indirect, consequential, and liquidated damages with respect to available insurance.
Skill Set :
Possess a thorough understanding of general liability, excess liability, workers’ compensation, professional liability, pollution liability, builders’ risk, property, equipment, and OCIP / CCIP policies, along with the insurance coverages included in these policies.
A 4-year college degree is required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant insurance experience as an insurance manager, underwriter, or claims manager.
High-level ability to work with complex spreadsheets. Proficiency in PowerPoint to develop and give presentations to senior management.
Ability to independently manage insurance projects for jobs. Ability to work with the estimating team on bids and the project team on insurance placements, promptly responding to inquiries and providing answers.
Understanding of the carrier billing process for premiums and claims. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Experience working within the construction industry.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multi-task and function effectively as part of a team. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
