Job Summary :

As the Controller you will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and supporting the company's strategic financial planning.

You will play a key role in driving financial success by providing actionable insights and ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.

This position requires a proactive leader with a strong background in financial management, preferably within a distribution or equipment-related industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Financial Management :
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings.
  • Prepare and present financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports to senior management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting :
  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance :
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP), and tax requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.
  • Cost Management :
  • Monitor and control costs related to inventory, operations, and overhead.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Inventory and Asset Management :
  • Oversee the accounting for inventory and fixed assets, ensuring accurate tracking and valuation.
  • Work closely with the operations team to optimize inventory management and turnover.
  • Strategic Financial Planning :
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and execution of long-term financial strategies in alignment with company goals.
  • Leadership and Team Development :
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company objectives and drive cross-functional initiatives.
  • Technology and Systems :
  • Ensure the effective use of financial software and systems, recommending improvements and upgrades as needed.
  • Leverage data analytics and reporting tools to enhance financial transparency and decision-making.
  • Qualifications :

  • Education :
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting / finance experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in the distribution, wholesale, or landscape machinery industry is highly desirable.
  • Skills :
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with specific software used by the company is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Compensation :

Target base salary of $175,000 - $200,000. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
