Locums - NP / PA Neonatology

Location : Syracuse, New York

Setting : NICU - Level III

Start : ASAP

Coverage Type : Long-term, full-time

Schedule Details :

  • Shift Structure : 7 days on / 7 days off
  • Shift Length : 12-hour shifts (day or night)
  • Admissions per Shift : 0-2
  • Patient Census : Average 8-9 patients per day
  • Unit Beds : 16-bed NICU
  • Well Baby Nursery : Covered during night shift only

Team & Supervision :

  • Neonatologists : 3 (also cover pediatrician needs)
  • Pediatric Mid-Levels : 6 + 1 per diem
  • Support Staff :
  • Neonatologist onsite during day
  • On-call 24 / 7 otherwise
  • Supervision : RNs and ancillary staff (no NNP supervision)

    • Procedures Required :

    Ventilation management (invasive & non-invasive)

  • ETT, BiPAP / CPAP
  • Chest tube insertion
  • Exchange transfusions
  • UAC / UVC placement
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Central & arterial line placement
  • Diagnostic & therapeutic taps
  • C-section attendance
  • Evaluation of acute BP / volume issues

    • Other Details :

  • Transport : No transport duties; Level IV NICU 5 minutes away handles all transfers
  • EMR : Epic
