South Correctional Entity (SCORE) is seeking a highly qualified HVAC and Facilities Technician to join the team in supporting the maintenance of our jail facility located in Des Moines, WA.

JOB SUMMARY :

The Facilities Technician II is vital in assuring our building is maintained in a safe condition and remains up to code.

This position performs a variety of highly skilled and journey-level facility maintenance, repair and construction activities and also acts as a subject matter expert for complex and critical systems.

These systems include areas of electronic security, fire alarms, plumbing, carpentry, glazing and mechanical trades, HVAC controls and electrical generation and distribution.

The Facilities Technician II will specialize in HVAC activities including the installation, diagnosis, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water heating and refrigeration systems .

A qualified candidate is knowledgeable of industry-standard practices and vendor-independent troubleshooting and repair.

THE HOURS :

The schedule for this position is anticipated to be Monday through Friday with flexibility in working hours. The position is full-time and eligible for overtime.

PAY & BENEFITS :

Salary Range : $83,128 - $101,042, DOQ

ABOUT SCORE JAIL :

SCORE is a regionally operated jail in Des Moines, WA serving the confinement needs of 6 Member Cities and a number of contract agencies with a total capacity of 802 inmates.

The facility is over 180K sq ft with many maintenance requirements. This position will play a critical role in the upkeep of our 16 rooftop HVAC units that run continuously.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by courses in electricity, HVAC, plumbing, painting and other construction trades.
  • Four (4) years' experience in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, as well as in general building maintenance and repair experience.

Due to the security requirements of a jail, a stringent background investigation is conducted on all candidates considered for hire.

This includes fingerprinting, criminal history, a polygraph exam, and a medical exam including a drug-screen.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification
  • Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification issued by the International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
