Technical Project Manager

Kasalis is a global supplier of advanced automation and production systems for the active alignment, assembly, and test of leading-edge optical devices and electro-optical systems including compact camera modules, NIR and visible light projectors, LiDAR systems, augmented reality systems, and structured light 3D sensing systems.

We are searching for an experienced and motivated technical project manager to manage a portfolio of machine design and process development projects, ensuring that technical and commercial success is achieved.

Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProject Management

  • Accountable for overall project success - including cost, schedule, quality, and scope management. This includes both the design phase and the machine delivery / installation.
  • Responsible to lead Engineering teams, in a matrix organization, that deliver custom engineering designs through non-recurring engineering (NRE) projects.
  • Responsible for assigning tasks to teams and ensuring all the project's technological requirements and objectives are correctly gathered, understood, and properly translated for execution and communicated to the team.
  • Responsible for identifying, documenting, and communicating scope changes as they occur.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality output of the team.
  • Participate in peer reviews and design reviews to help validate technical designs and ideas.
  • Responsible for tracking task and milestone progress for collating and presenting project status to senior management.
  • Responsible for recognizing project's Key Success Indicators (KPIs) and manage the work within scope, quality, time, and cost constraints.
  • Responsible for creating detailed work packages for the team, getting validation from functional managers for scope, deliverables, milestones, and cost of work packages.
  • Responsible for identifying and managing project risks, including reviewing risks and managing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Responsible for facilitating communication as appropriate to all involved and manage the stakeholders. This includes escalating issues to the next level of management.
  • Responsible for forecasting project budget and resource needs.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of detailed project schedules.
  • Work with the Business Development team to scope and prepare SOWs for new projects.
  • Accountable for internal and external customer satisfaction and relationship.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement alternate solutions to managing and solving technical problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and understand technical details and aspects of a project with the Engineering teams and present or communicate, verbal and written, that clearly and effectively to internal or external customers.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information and concepts to management and customer personnel.
  • Ability to respond in a timely fashion to common inquiries or complaints from customers or internal personnel.
  • Ability to understand and track basic project finances.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and Excel.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience / familiarity with optical components.
  • Experience with automated assembly and test systems.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience leading technical projects.
  • PMP Certification.
