Lead Accountant

The lead accountant position is responsible for AT&T Wireless revenue results, specifically ASC 606 revenue recognition related to promotions. In this role you will ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reports, lead complex accounting projects, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies, while collecting, recording, classifying, examining, analyzing, or reporting accounting transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Key Roles and Responsibilities : Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Financial Reporting and Analysis : Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement areas. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- General Ledger and Accounting Operations : Maintain all accounting systems and manage the general ledger. Oversee month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare journal entries, maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, and manage records of assets, liabilities, and financial transactions.
- Tax Planning and Compliance : Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns and statutory filings. Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide tax-related advice.
- Internal Controls and Compliance : Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets. Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Other Duties as Assigned : Perform additional tasks as required to support financial health and operational efficiency, including cash flow management, budgeting, team leadership, system improvements, and stakeholder communication. Job Contribution : An experienced professional, recognized as an expert, creatively resolving complex issues with broad and in-depth knowledge. Leads significant projects with strategic autonomy, influencing executive decisions. Mentors less experienced staff, implements long-term plans impacting the organization, and frequently collaborates with senior leadership.
Education / Experience : Bachelor's degree (BS / BA) desired. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.
