Responsibilities
include :
- Manages a diverse portfolio of programs that support the scientific and practice needs of the Association and its members, particularly the ADLM Universal Sample Bank.
- Collaborates with members to keep abreast of technical advances and trends in laboratory medicine to better inform Association activities in science and practice.
- Supports and serves as staff liaison to the Science & Practice Core Committee (SPCC) and related groups, providing expert staff support and perspective in the accomplishment of the Committee’s charge and the Association’s strategic plan.
- With the member oversight of the SPCC, directs the ADLM Divisions program and Divisions Manager to ensure the Association covers the breadth of science in the field.
- Collaborates with ADLM Academy staff and members on standard-setting, best practice and scientific guidelines.
- Works with ADLM publications staff to prepare scientific manuscripts and share content.
- Works with ADLM advocacy staff to develop and implement scientific activities in support of the ADLM advocacy agenda.
- Works with ADLM education staff to facilitate development of scientific programming, serving as a conduit of information from the Science and Practice Core Committee to the Education Core Committee.
- Works with ADLM Marketing and Communications team to develop promotional content for science and practice projects.
- Represents the Association’s science and practice positions to both internal and external audiences with authority and credibility, as well as managing ADLM liaisons to other organizations.
- Manages the budget for science and practice related expenses.
- Interacts with all ADLM employees to facilitate collaborative, productive working relationships.
- Maintains positive working relationship with supervisor and senior leadership.
- Manages multiple scientifically oriented programs effectively while adapting to changing needs and priorities as the Association advances its strategic plan.
Qualifications :
- PhD in clinical biochemistry or related biomedical research field, with five-eight years of related experience.
- Experience in a medical or research laboratory highly desirable; formal scientific training required.
- Demonstrated project management and outstanding customer / member relation skills required; association experience preferred.
- Proven scientific or technical writing ability; experience in scientific writing for a lay audience preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of research and successful grant writing preferred.
- Experience in oral presentation of scientific information, with an ability to prepare and present formal talks to both internal and external groups and stakeholders.
- Outstanding abstract reasoning skills with an ability to apply those skills in identifying new opportunities for growth and / or process improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal communications and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and leading teams, overseeing direct reports to achieve organizational goals effectively.
- Ability to interact with individuals at various levels of the organization regarding complex biomedical and policy issues.
