Virtual Peaker is looking for an IT Systems & Security Engineer that will help solve the climate crisis by supporting our mission of building the utility of the future.

The intermittent nature of wind and solar energy makes it much harder for electric utilities to keep the grid in balance.

Job Description

As the IT Systems & Security Engineer you will be responsible for supporting Virtual Peaker’s team to maintain essential IT infrastructure, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, emails systems, laptops, software, and hardware.

Take responsibility for projects and tools within the larger business initiative. Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.

Role Responsibilities

• Maintain, update and configure device management policies in Kandji to ensure compliance with organizational standards
• Design, implement, and manage Okta workflows
• Regularly monitor security dashboards to identify potential security threats
• Conduct periodic reviews of VPN, AWS, and other critical system configurations to ensure they meet security requirements
• Design and implement backup strategies for critical systems to ensure business continuity and succession planning
• Oversee the deployment of workstations and laptops, ensuring devices are properly configured and compliant with organizational policies
• Manage the provisioning and ongoing access of users in IT systems and applications
• Manage the patching and security updates of EC2 instances
• Address and remediate issues identified in SecureFrame tests

Education and Experience

• Proven success in an IT role
• Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, user directory systems, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
• Experience in project management and application design and integration
• Experience with cyber security concepts and practices
