Position Summary
This is a part time Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Student Worker position to support OSU VITA marketing and communications.
Successful candidates will identify opportunities, support and contribute to marketing plans, develop contacts, and create marketing and publicity materials for the OSU VITA program.
The pay rate will be $20 per hour. Position Duties Average anticipated workload 10-15 hours per week. Typical duties include : understanding OSU VITA priorities and goals and developing engaging marketing plans, networking with applicable stakeholders, creating marketing materials targeting clients and volunteers, ensuring compliance of marketing with applicable organizational stakeholders, monitoring communication effectiveness.
They will meet with the VITA Program Managers, Site Coordinators, and Mobile Program Representative as needed and attend weekly VITA Student Worker meetings.
Requires certifying as a VITA volunteer at a minimum of Site Coordinator level. Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here :
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

- International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
- A reduced course load is approved by the (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position;
therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq.
Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants that have prior VITA experience. Preference will be given to students with prior professional service experience, such as internships in any marketing or communication business function.
Preference will also be given to candidates with experience relevant to professional client service. Working Conditions / Work Schedule The job may require work to help program leadership and student workers outside regular business hours.
This will include weekday evening sessions and Saturday sessions. Both in-person and virtual work may be required.
