Position Summary The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for creating, planning, and leading a multi-year approach to grow alumni engagement by providing opportunities for alumni to connect with the University of the Incarnate Word.
The Department of Alumni Relations works in coordination with a variety of campus partners to better engage 40,000 alumni globally.

Job Duties Job Duty Name Essential Duties Description of Job Duties
Create a multi-year strategic plan with implementation goalsto better connect UIW with its alumni both nationally and internationally.
Engagement focus should be to enhance the student experience as well as to garner further support from alumni building upon UIW’s strong tradition of service.
- Lead a team of three professionals in the planning, development and execution of said plan.
- Regularly travel to assigned areas to engage with alumni populations, to include multi states within the US.
- Serve on the Vice President’s leadership team and collaborate with a variety of partners and campus stakeholders.
- Work with Alumni Association Board and regional chapters to recruit volunteers to serve on the board and chapters.
- Plan and execute the annual Swing-In golf tournament and auction events.
- Provide oversight for local and regional alumni functions in partnership with other colleagues.
- Collaborate with campus partners to create and chair a campus homecoming planning and implementation committee; work in consultation with leadership on initiatives for the Alumni Association Board.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education Bachelor’s Degree. Required Work Experience
- Eight (8) years of professional experience in development, admissions, or alumni relations.
- Three (3) years of experience in the supervision of professional level employees.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations Valid driver’s license or ID with real ID designation, as required for air travel.
Work Hours Typical Monday through Friday 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm with extended hours / weekends to meet departmental needs and / or needs of the learning community.
Note that travel schedule will require evenings and weekends. Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 10lbs of marketing and event materials.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve event materials.
- Ability to push / pull event carts and wagons holding up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as attend meetings / events on and off campus.
- Ability to navigate airports for regular travel.
