Summary :
The Enterprise Network Engineer I (ENE I) is a strategicposition providing advanced level of technical skill and expertisein Network Engineering as well as a tactical position involved withthe execution of Networking operations.
The ENE I provides anadvanced level of technical skill and expertise in the area ofmanaging and maintaining data and voice networks.
This position hasextensive technical knowledge and experience in operationalmaintenance, availability, capacity planning, and monitoring ofcritical Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), andother network related environments.
The ENE I is responsible for systems integration, designand tier III technical support for network systems and technologyplatforms.
Day to day activities include networkprovisioning, performance tuning, adding networks, scripting forautomating of tasks, assigning ports, error tracking, datamovement, software configurations, product evaluation, assignedprojects and addressing interoperability issues.
The position alsoworks as part of a cross-functional team that deals with the fullspectrum of technology and will fulfill the role of third levelsupport for network technologies, providing training and directionto other technical staff that perform the bulk of the first andsecond level support tasks.
Responsibilities :
Strategy & Planning Plans and coordinates the future state of the networks for CHRISTUSinformation management. Designs network solutions that meet theinformation system vision and strategy of the organization;
plans,prioritizes, and manages projects, service requests, and routineassignments.
SystemEngineering - Analyzes network configurations for criticalcorporate resources; evaluates changes and additions for proposedsystem acquisitions and provides critical input to thedecision-making process relative to integration, operations, cost,resource requirements, and maintenance;
develops plans andrecommendations to improve the performance and efficiency of thenetwork; addresses all aspects including hardware, software,outside services, etc.
and prevents unplanned disruptions ofcritical systems.
- SystemIntegration Integrates network components, subsystems,and facilities into the existing technical environment; assessesnetwork systems availability, bandwidth, and throughput;
- installs,configures, and verifies the operation of network components;maintains or improves integration and operation of systems relativeto the overall environment;
leads or participates as team member incross-system projects.
- SystemManagement Designs, implements, and oversees a proactiveprocess to collect and report data and statistics on theinternetworking environment;
- ensures the systems operateefficiently and meet the needs of the organization; ensures theyare kept at most current stable version / release usingvendor-supplied updates and patches;
- performs research and testingto verify impact of installing all updates; coordinates vendorsupport and ensures relationship is never jeopardized;
- monitorsperformance of all assigned systems, responds to reports of slow orerratic performance; control of all aspects of the network;
provides training to IM associates and clients asneeded
- Training &Certification - Maintains in-depth knowledge and currentcertification in internetworking technologies including but notlimited to vendor certifications.
- Performsother duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Engineering, Math or related field or equivalent experience (8years) required.
- Extensive technical knowledgeof Local Area Networks and Access Networks toinclude :
- Advanced level experience withmultiple routing protocols, EIGRP, BGP, iBGP,OSPF
- Advanced knowledge of network LANredundancy. Designing and supporting highly redundant networksusing HSRP or CSM and multiple layers of redundancy includinglogical and physical configurations.
- Advancedlevel knowledge in LAN protocol management to include addressmanagement and network protocols
- Experiencewith one or more of the following models isdesired :
- Aruba / Cisco routers, switches and WLANtechnologies
- Firewalls, IPS and similartechnologies
- SD Wantechnologies
- F5 hardware / softwaretechnologies
- Wan Optimizers(Silverpeak)
- Cisco / Avaya Voice over IP Networks(VOIP)
- Knowledge of local and wide areanetworking on multiple platforms : Windows, Linux and VMware;network protocols and routing;
- network, server, and host operatingsystems; IP networking, internet and intranet technologies; email,groupware, office automation and collaboration technologies;
voiceand / or data communications; voice and / or data networking; Windowsdesktop OS; server hardware, software, andadministration.
- A total of eight (8) years ofexperience in large corporate systems environment with a widevariety of Information Management systems, networks andtechnologies required.
- Minimum of (5) years ofexperience in network engineering, design, implementation andsupport of large scale LAN, WLAN and WANs.
- Prior experience in a health care systems environment is aplus.
- One or more of the followingcertifications preferred :
- Cisco & ArubaCertification
- Ekahau or Air MagnetCertification
