As an Associate Director of Pricing Strategy and Analysis, you will be primarily responsible for evaluating and negotiating fee proposals with goal towards controlling spend while maintaining excellent representation from law firms representing the company in a range of legal matters.

Assisting in development of structure and content of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) used to enable law firms to submit alternative fee bids, ensuring clearly defined, detailed and measurable assumptions regarding the intended scope of work.
You will assist in the development of creative, workable solutions in response to different internal needs, including alternative / flat fee arrangements, capped / rollover hourly structured fees and contingency / success fees, as appropriate.
- You will also be responsible for organizing and maintaining information to enable tracking and analyzing data to identify key drivers of fees and negotiated savings, in order to i) present data in graphical or other formats useful to clients and senior stakeholders, and ii) develop metrics and robust predictive cost modelling tools.
- As part of this role, you will work with finance and other colleagues to ensure documentation of matters captures intended pricing arrangements, rates, and other relevant documentation (e.
g., invoicing / billing system setup).
- Through the use / analysis of internal and external pricing, rates and spend data, you will help monitor the status and outcomes of the alternative fee agreements, making recommendations for continual improvements to specific engagements, as well as overall process and system.
- In coordination with the team, you will ensure that appropriate documentation is in place once fee are agreed with external counsel, including preparing fee agreements as needed.
- As a member of the team, you will be involved in maintaining and developing GSK’s relationships with law firms, including evaluation and coordinating feedback.
- Your role will involve helping develop, support and establish internal policies and procedures with respect to external counsel engagements, developing standard templates, training internal lawyers on processes and techniques, and assisting in streamlining and simplifying processes to the greatest extent.
- You will also research and understand current technology capabilities and trends in the external legal spend management field, and availability of such tools to continually enhance and stay abreast of industry, maintaining GSK’s position at the forefront in the field of alternative pricing for legal services.
- You will lead strategic initiatives and process improvements (by ensuring project objectives and responsibilities are clearly defined and achievable) including :
- Initiative to develop predictive cost modeling for new matters by leveraging existing data along with developing and innovative technology platforms;
- Continuing to develop strategies for controlling and reducing outside legal spend including i) use of alternative legal providers, ii) supporting technology and generative AI use cases to streamline development and monitoring of accurate fee proposals, and iii) active participation in peer legal operations groups to ensure GSK Legal is on the cutting-edge of progressive strategies employed by large corporate clients;
- Support GSK’s DEI Initiatives in area of external legal spend including vetting diverse-owned law firms, and identifying opportunities to develop and expand engagements;
- You will assist in compiling and communicating accurate and relevant information on progress, and any obstacles or risks, of group’s initiatives and objectives, in a timely manner in order to ensure success and foster collaboration.

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Statistics, or a similar field
- 5+ years experience in procurement, business or finance role
experience negotiating contract terms and prices on behalf of company with suppliers and / or contractors for services or products
Preferred Qualifications :
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus :
- Experience in pricing strategy department in medium to large law firm or corporate legal operations group;
- Knowledge of process for engaging outside counsel including experience with alternative and flat fee pricing models for legal services, specifically flat fee, value-based structures;
- General understanding of US and UK legal systems, including terminology and underlying basics of common legal matters (e.
- g., litigation, arbitration, patents, mergers & acquisitions);
- Knowledge of the law firm industry in the US, UK and other regions.
- Experience with using, implementing and / or evaluating technology platforms for external spend management
- Experience with generative AI, including project managing AI use cases
- Drafting and executing Alternative Fee Agreements (AFAs)Solid analytical skills and ability to analyze large data sets, along with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
- Must be an innovative and strategic thinker
- Ability to manage multiple projects, take initiative, work effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well and collaborate with colleagues in a team environment
- Ability to self-direct and build collaborative relationships across the company and with external partners
