Summary / objective

The Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

The Accountant position will work closely with our other accountants and operations personnel and handle day-to-day bookkeeping.

An Accountant will provide accurate reconciliation of business accounts. This includes bank statements, and auditing of quarterly, monthly or yearly accounts.

Duties include the financial preparation and analysis of accounts and reporting of financial variances and inaccuracies.

Essential functions

  • Performs general ledger accounting for assigned co-ops.
  • Prepares periodic balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Reconciles accounts and can correlate account relationships.
  • Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles member accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Completes quarterly and annual reporting for assigned co-ops
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Fulfill overtime requirements when necessary

Physical demands

This position requires sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and significant amount of time on the phone.

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are a must.
  • Proficient in Acrobat / Adobe and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
