The Industrial Design team at Black Diamond works on everything we make from technical climbing hardware, to ski poles, to running packs.
We are a tight-knit team made up of a diverse cohort of innovative tinkerers, model makers, climbers, runners, skiers, seamstresses, and one world-renowned shoe cobbler.
We are one with the sports we serve and design products for customers who range from weekend warriors to aspiring athletes.

As an Industrial Designer at Black Diamond, you are a talented technical softgoods designer with a passion for pack design and a strong understanding of the sports we build products for.

What You Will Be Working On :
On any given day, BD is buzzing with like-minded individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience levels, from 25-year Black Diamond veteran’s to RnD interns.
With such a broad range of users and categories that the brand designs for, this position will cover technical packs and softgoods for the climb, run, and snow categories.
Who You Will Be Working With :
You will be a large part of the Industrial Design team and will work closely with other industrial designers to both mentor and learn from several members of the team have been keystones for Black Diamond and its high rate of innovation for 15+ years.
You will be a part of several product teams at any given time made up of world-class design engineers, developers, and PLMs.
Your product team for climbing equipment could look different from your product team for skiing equipment or running equipment.

Requirements
What You Bring :
- 3-7 years relevant work experience in softgoods design, or related field.
- Preferred BA / BFA / BS in Industrial Design, Product Design, Fashion Design or similar.
- Portfolio examples of projects that demonstrate traditional design skills such as design research, sketching, prototyping, and manufacturing implementation.
- Experience pattern-making, cutting, sewing prototypes and ideas.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and creating tech packs for softgoods products.
- Examples of circular design or cradle-to-cradle methodologies and how those processes created a more efficient and sustainable product.
- Physical examples of things you’ve sewn / built with your hands.
