About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Tech CWR Job Specialty : Operating Room Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : 11 : 00 AM - 11 : 30 PM, 3 X 12 shifts per week;
Weekends and Holidays required as needed; On-Call requirement after 90 days Guaranteed Hours : 36 Experience : Minimum experience not specified License : Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or appropriate training program Certifications : Preferred - Professional certification by the AST Must-Have : Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
push and pull a minimum of 400 lbs., and stand for the length of the shift Job Description : Responsible for cleaning and handling instruments according to standard policies while maintaining updated records.
- Follow policy in the standardization of setups and utilize surgeon preferences, assuming responsibility for the care and proper handling of instruments.
- Neatly organize all instrumentation before returning to the decontamination room and return all clean supplies to designated areas.
- Maintain a count of sponges, needles, and instruments, and administer and label medications according to established policy.
- Handle specimens in accordance with Operating Room Policy and Procedures.- Control contamination and ensure decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.
- Remove used equipment and properly dispose of contaminated needles and syringes at the end of procedures.- Participate in team conferences to plan care, evaluate the effectiveness of patient care, and assist the circulator in revising the plan of care.
- Maintain Surgical Tech skills proficiency by updating checklists and rotating through specialty areas.- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs, including communicating with the patient, parent, and / or primary caregiver(s) at their level.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Organizational Competencies.- Float requirement as needed to the same-day surgery department.
