This opportunity entails being responsible for providing construction site office support on a major State DOT interchange design-build project in Kirkland, WA.
The Office Engineer assists the Resident Engineer in partnership with the project team. This position reviews certified payrolls, tracks DBE compliance, reviews pay estimates, performs financial forecasting and reporting, change order development, submittals, and RFIs.
This position also provides mentorship and guidance and oversees the work of Document Control staff.
What You'll Do :
Performs office management engineer work when needed including but not limited to; assists change manager and project manager in contractor claims and disputes.
Tracks, reviews and processed RFIs and submittals and performs constructability reviews.
Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
Administers KPIs and budget, reads and interprets complex contract documents to ensure compliance.
Performs or oversees on-site material testing.
Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities).
Responsible for tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications and identifies discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Prepares weekly progress reports.
Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research.
Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS / Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees. Monitors internal HNTB project controls as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need :
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and 6 years relevant experience.
What You'll Bring :
Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe, Bluebeam, and P6
Familiarity with engineering, architectural, and construction documents
Experience with preparation of cost estimates
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with project team, clients, and contractors.
Ability to anticipate problems and proactively develop solutions to overcome those problems
Demonstrated ability to set and meet deadlines while juggling multiple assignments
