Job Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace CAD Designer / Model-Based Design Engineer to join our team on a part-time contract basis.

This role focuses on advanced CAD modeling, including the integration of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) and other critical data directly into 3D models.

You will play a crucial role in accelerating the product delivery process by ensuring that 3D models are optimized for manufacturing and can seamlessly move to production without extensive 2D drawings.

You will work remotely, and your work will directly contribute to the development of FAA-compliant designs for aerospace applications.

This position is ideal for candidates with strong experience in CAD design for the aerospace industry, including knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and FAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct advanced CAD design modeling with a focus on Model-Based Design (MBD).
• Create 3D models incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerances, and manufacturing information.
• Ensure the 3D model becomes the master, allowing direct transition from 3D modeling to manufacturing processes.
• Integrate Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) into the 3D models, including product data, tolerances, and specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate translation of design requirements into manufacturable models.
• Ensure FAA-compliant design processes, utilizing virtual models for review instead of extensive paper-based documentation.
• Utilize AutoCAD for model creation, with an awareness of electrical design integration and SAA certification related to the modeling aspects.
• Work within the guidelines for FAA design approval and understand aerospace manufacturing processes.

Qualifications :

• Proven experience with Advanced CAD modeling and Model-Based Design.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and incorporating manufacturing information into 3D models.
• Familiarity with PMI (Product Manufacturing Information).
• Experience in FAA-regulated design for aerospace, including virtual model approvals.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and knowledge of electrical design processes.
• Familiarity with SAA certifications related to aerospace modeling.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results in a remote work environment.

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with aircraft or aerospace manufacturing.
• Knowledge of FAA certification processes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict regulatory and quality standards.
