Summary :

The Risk Governance Specialist Sr. manages the risk governance team and oversees the implementation of model risk management framework within the bank.

The governance team is expected to collaborate with Segment Risk Officers and model owners / users throughout the organization;

along with third party model validation co-source. They will help resolve escalated implementation issues related to the following risk areas : market risk, interest rate, credit risk, marketing analytics, fraud risk, economic capital or capital market valuation.

They ensure teams are in compliance with model policy model inventory, model documentation standards, model implementation, model changes and model validation, model oversight committee, which involves working with all Segments across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Performs analysis of risks associated with models and produces summary reports for senior management.
  • Provide training to Segments and supports them in complying with model risk management policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Model Risk Management ( MRM) Policy and Oversight Manager SME, Model Risk Management (MRM) is part of the Corporate Risk Management of Huntington and is responsible for the independent oversight of models and non-statistical tools developed, acquired, and used by Huntington.

These include Credit Loss Forecasting, Commercial and Retail Underwriting, Commercial and Retail Risk Rating, Treasury, Home Lending, Stress Testing, Fraud, BSA / AML, Capital Markets, Pricing, Hedging, Fraud Identification, Liquidity, Regulatory Reporting, and artificial intelligence / machine learning models.

  • Work closely with Model Validation Team, Model Developer, Model Owner, Segment Risk Officers, and various persons across the three lines of defense.
  • Support the design and lead the implementation of the overall model governance process for the end-to-end model lifecycle and effective oversight of model risk management.
  • Champion of the MRM Program, Framework and supporting processes.
  • Support the design and responsible for communicating model risk governance metrics and policies through impactful writing and presentation.
  • Update model risk policies and procedures to guide sound development, implementation, and use of quantitative techniques throughout the firm.
  • Oversee the design aggregation and reporting of formal enterprise model related controls.
  • Communicate, reports on, and support escalation of MRM issues (e.g., Metric / KPI breaches and MRM Policy exceptions).
  • Assist with maintaining the completeness and accuracy of the Model Inventory.
  • Support interaction with external regulators and auditors.
  • Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined.
  • Collaborate with model developers and users to streamline and normalize oversight processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of professional business experience within risk management, accounting, audit, operational risk, model development or regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of information supplied to senior management and members
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage multiple tasks and roles, and meet deadlines
  • Experience with implementing processes to support compliance with SR 11-7 / OCC 2011-12 Supervisory Guidance on Model Risk Management
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours if required to complete time sensitive projects
