Job Summary and Qualifications
The Manager of Facilities Management is responsible for coordinating and running daily operations of the Engineering department & physical plant.
In the absence of the department Director, this position will be required to act on the Director’s behalf.
What you will do in this role :
Schedule work orders and PM’s to be done annually, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly, weekly, or daily. Monitor work orders and PM’s to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Review outstanding open work orders and PM’s with staff members to ascertain reason for current open status.
- Manage, schedule, and maintain testing documentation for inspections and testing requirements by all applicable regulatory agencies (State, The Joint Commission, Local AHJ and any others).
- Monitor work order system and assign work order to the appropriate mechanic.
- Set up technical files to ensure easy access of equipment manuals by shared employees. Ensure information is updated as needed.
- Attend department specific meetings and / or in-services related to equipment safety; electrical safety, fire safety, risk management and infection control.
Attend required department staff meetings.
- Assist Director with maintenance of departmental personnel files. Maintain strict confidentiality of all departmental and hospital information.
- Assist Director in coordinating & scheduling medical gas and utility shut downs.
- Assist Director with construction projects including monitoring contractors, quality control and punch lists.
- Manage PM system (TMA), creating new PM’s and Planned Events as needed.
- Develop work orders for all outside vendors relating to repairs and preventative maintenance to assure that contract agreements are kept and purchased services are performed when scheduled, and as requested.
- Review all Code Red reports and inform Director and Safety Committee of any trends or problems.
- Train all contractors and vendors regarding ICRA, Interim Life Safety, hospital codes and protocols when working inside Hospital.
Ensure department shops, mechanical rooms, powerhouse, electrical rooms and all other related equipment rooms are kept clean and neatly painted.
- Supervise Engineering staff ensuring quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.
- Inspect facility and equipment for condition and schedules repairs as needed.
- Assist Director in reviewing all Plant Operation service contracts and manages costs.
- Assist Director with Facilitates ongoing improvement to the environment of care in the hospital.
- Complete Utility and Life Safety Reports for Safety Committee.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of all positions supervised by training, coaching and monitoring the quality of employees performance.
What qualifications you will need :
- Degree or equivalent training in Engineering / Business Management or technical / vocational certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospital or equivalent leadership role required.
- Strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of hospital facilities engineering operations required.
