Currently, the press publishes thirty to fifty books a year and provides distribution services to nine other publishers through the Texas Book Consortium.

What We Want
The Assistant Project Editor, under direction of the Managing Editor, will be accountable for carrying out book production and project management duties in support of Texas A&M University.
What You Need to Know
Salary : $45,000.00 annually
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of related experience in technical writing, editing, proofreading, and updating electronic content
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Familiarity with writing style guides and ability to adapt to
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to operate a computer / computer keyboard
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience at a publishing house (internships included)
Proven competence in editing across multiple academic disciplines
Scholarly background and interest
Intellectual curiosity and interest in academic publishing
Knowledge of scholarly publishing practices
Responsibilities :
Project Management : Prepare manuscripts for copyediting. Correspond with freelance copyeditors authors concerning editorial process, schedules, manuscript changes, and other issues.
Prepare copyedited manuscripts and illustrations for the designer and typesetter. Review page proof and evaluate author corrections to proof.
Review jacket and marketing copy.
Permissions and Subsidiary Rights : Review image and text reprint permissions and credit lines. Work with authors and other in-house editors to follow up on needed permissions.
Obtain permissions for work commissioned or obtained by the press. Prepare and update as needed permissions summary for each book.
Process subsidiary rights requests.
Contract Management : Send and receive previously approved author contracts and associated forms. Process as needed at Press and through university’s contract administration system.
Copyright Administration : Maintain copyright and other publication registration processes with the Library of Congress.
Request checks for copyright fees. Prepare forms, request books, and send to copyright office for cataloging in publication.
Send copies of forms to authors. Input copyright information in database. Maintain file on regulations. Send books, with cover letters, to the Library of Congress.
Other Duties as Needed : Assist in Press-wide functions that may include tasks such as committee meeting preparation, warehouse inventory, and vault upkeep.
