Job Summary

The Plant Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing, and coordinating all activities of assigned manufacturing Plant.

Responsibilities include safety, environmental, quality, production, maintenance, cost control, and leadership of the Plant workforce.

Essential Functions

Provides the direction and necessary resources to establish safety and environmental performance that meets established goals for the Plant.

This includes development and implementation of the proper behavior and attitudes by employees to guarantee excellent performance.

  • Develops and implements plans to reduce environmental waste, meet applicable environmental regulations and handle emergency situations that may occur at the Plant.
  • Develops a Plant operating plan that is consistent with and supports the business plan.
  • Ensures standards for product quality, equipment reliability and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
  • Leads Plant's Operational Excellence initiatives.Utilizes Lean and / or Six Sigma tools / resources to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develops and manages a capital plan that supports the business strategy and improves Plant operations.
  • Ensures the Plant achieves its annual operating cost objectives.
  • Directs production managers / supervisors in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure meeting the Plant's objectives.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates Plant's manufacturing incentive plan goals to associates.
  • Ensures subordinates’ career development goals are identified and plans put in place to support them.
  • Effectively represents Avient to the external community, including active involvement in local civic groups, ongoing coordination with regulatory agencies and effective interface with emergency response services
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, related technical discipline or business required; Master's degree in Operations Management and / or APICS certification preferred.

Additional Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience, with at least 7 years of experience supervising multiple individuals and / or teams / shifts.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufactuing operations and safety procedures; prior experience in pultrusion and / or composites / plastics operations strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience and utilitzation of Lean Six Sigma methodology strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in managing a safe and environmentally sound work environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Strong results orientation combined with ability to make sound, reasoned decisions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel;

and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.

The employee is occasionally required to lift and / or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise to loud.
