Job Description
The Director of Post-Award services leads the financial and non-financial post-award activities that support the priorities and strategic objectives of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
The position is responsible for all post-award administration, compliance, and fiscal management of grants and contracts awarded to The University of Tulsa from federal, state and local government, non-profits and private funding agencies in accordance with federal regulations, including but not limited to 2 CFR 200 (uniform guidance), state, sponsor, and university policies as applicable.
The position is also responsible for the development and streamlining of business processes and system changes that improve the effectiveness, efficiency, education and customer service of post-award grant management for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Provides leadership, planning and operational management / oversight for post-award administration.
- Directly oversees and supervises post-award staff with responsibility for personnel decisions including hiring, firing, evaluation, training and promotion;
determines priorities and work assignments.
- Responsible for development, recommendation, training and implementation of policies and procedures affecting university sponsored projects
- Responsible for development, implementation, training, and oversight of business processes and system changes including, but not limited to, research administration post-award software and systems.
- Leads and serves as the point of contact for federally-mandated single audit and with other auditors and sponsors as needed.
- Oversees financial and non-financial service components involved in daily activities with administration, faculty, and departmental assistants regarding sponsored projects.
- Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with federal, state, university and other applicable regulations including training of faculty and staff.
- Oversees tracking, monitoring and reporting of project activity, cost share, salary verifications, billing / invoicing, and sponsor reporting as required.
- Supervises the preparation and submission of monthly and annual reports related to post-award activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related area
- Three to five years’ experience in the management of externally sponsored programs
- Ability to utilize independent judgment.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel including demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Excel to develop and maintain complex spreadsheets, including complex formulas and functions to analyze data.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; be able to work well under pressure in a detail-oriented environment while handling a multitude of tasks.
- Ability to accept and maintain a high degree of responsibility within a high-volume office.
- Excellent customer service skills, teambuilding, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master’s degree or professional certification preferred (CRA or CPA)
- Five to seven years’ experience in sponsored project administration in a university setting; supervisory experience
- Knowledge of regulatory assurance requirements currently impacting sponsored programs including 2 CFR 200, FAR, DFAR and major federal funding agency guidelines / regulations.
- Ability to research and assist with the resolution of highly complex issues with legal, fiscal, and ethical / compliance implications.
- Experience with Cayuse Grant Management software or other grant management software
