We are looking for an individual to be part of the Blood Services Group (BSG), Blood Supply Management Division. The appointee for this position will be a laboratory officer supporting the national blood program, performing blood component processing, and managing of blood inventory.
The appointee will be scheduled to work permanent night shifts.
Responsibilities : -
Blood inventory management responsible to supply blood to the stakeholder and perform a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory :
- First-Expiry-First-Out blood product inventory movement for fulfilment of hospital orders.
- Cold chain maintenance with proper packing material and configuration for blood transport.
- Handle enquiries from stakeholder and assist to resolves issues timely with focus on service excellence and safety.
- Build and maintain good working rapport and partnership with hospital blood bank laboratories.
Blood Component Processing responsible to perform a variety of processing procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory :
- Basic blood and blood components preparation.
- Specialised blood components preparation and modification procedures such as deglycerolization blood, divided blood and blood component etc.
- Perform irradiation work for blood and blood components.
- Perform basic quality controls and blood grouping of blood products.
- Operate analytical equipment and instruments according to established SOPs.
- Maintain quality results by running controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot equipment if required.
General and Administrative work responsible to perform general and administrative works according to the standards set in the Laboratory :
- Adherence to biosafety practices and maintains a clean and well organised work environment.
- Complies and maintains all applicable safety regulations and regulatory guidelines in the Laboratory.
- Perform stocktake and maintain adequate inventory of all consumables.
- Check the performance of the instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and to report any equipment is not functioning properly.
- Perform routine maintenance for equipment and instruments.
- Acknowledgement of alarms and regular monitoring of temperature deviation alerts.
- Manage donor call-back system by review the donor call-back log and perform product quarantine and recall procedures if required.
- Collate and report national daily blood stock.
Requirements : -
- Relevant qualificaitions in Science or relevant fields
- Working experience in a biomedical or healthcare laboratory setting is an advantage.
- Open to work in a laboratory setting
- Able to work night shift, weekends and public holidays.
- Confident and team player
- Able to work and communication efficiently with stakeholders.
- Possess decision making capability for problem solving.
- Should also possess good analytical skills and work well under pressure.
